Fictional car accident story

This piece was an in-class writing exercise about a fictional car accident story. We were given a facts sheet about the fictional event, then had to write a story about it. Written fall 2016.

1 Dead, 2 in serious condition after car accident

     A car accident occurred at 5 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Brown Street and Irving Avenue, leaving one person dead and two people injured.

Steve Smith, 18, and Sharon Beverly, 18, both UD students, were hit by a pickup truck while driving westbound on Irving Avenue. Gary Bubba, 65, of Dayton was driving the pickup truck with Susie Queue, 46, of Youngstown as passenger. The collision sent both vehicles into an ice cream store on Brown Street, damaging the property.

Three bystanders were reported hurt. After the accident, Beverly was severely injured. Bubba suffered from a broken leg and other injuries at the scene, but later died at Miami Valley Hospital. Beverly and Smith were taken to Miami Valley Hospital and remain in serious condition. Queue was left uninjured.

Cherry Garcia, owner of the ice cream shop at 1934 Brown St., said the store will be closed for a week before reopening. The damages are estimated at more than $10,000.

Police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident.
